SQL Database Administrator

Onsite: On location at the Client’s site 100% of the time. No telecommuting or remote work.

Description: The Client is a full service law enforcement agency located in Tampa, Florida. It  is the seventh largest suburban law enforcement agency in the United States. The agency currently employs over 3,400 personnel in more than two dozen facilities, spread over the 1,052 square miles. The Company is a fully accredited agency, and was the first nationally accredited agency in Florida.

Responsibilities:

• Support multiple databases in development & production environments as lead DBA;
• Maintain existing SSIS packages, develop new SSIS packages as needed and utilize integrated source control in Visual Studio Team Foundation Server;
• Working with other IT teams in ongoing design, testing, implementation, maintenance, support & troubleshooting of business database needs;
• Assist in security of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of resources and data;
• Perform scheduled tests to assess the database backup plan and integrity of the backups;
• Provide recommendations for hardware specifications based on usage, trends and benchmarking evidence;
• Develop & maintain a comprehensive library of support documentation;
• Provide leadership to the project team;
• Take ownership of an aspect or task on a project with little to no assistance;
• Actively communicate technical and business aspects of work efforts to team members;
• Coach, mentor and provide guidance for less experienced database administrators.

Requirements:

• Experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA (5+ years);
• Extensive hands-on knowledge and experience of MS SQL Server (2005/2008) (database design & normalization, performance analysis & tuning, database & user security, backup management, disaster recovery planning & execution, knowledge of server hardware and capacity planning, data access control security,  review of developer created stored procedures, triggers & user defined functions, SSRS, data warehousing, database mirroring);
• Extensive hands-on knowledge and development experience of MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS);
• Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and/or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification;
• Strong analytical, creative thinking, problem solving and time management skills;
• Must have strong documentation skills;
• U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

Preferred:

• Experience with MS SQL Server 2008 R2;
• Experience with MS SQL Reporting Services;
• Experience with VMWare ESX; Windows 2003/2008 server environments;
• Experience with Red Gate SQL Tool-belt utilities;
• Experience with Spotlight monitoring utilities;
• Experience with Clustering;
• Experience with Powershell development & deployment;
• Associates degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
